WHY | World Heritage Youth

In occasione dei 50 anni della Convenzione UNESCO sulla Protezione del Patrimonio Mondiale culturale e naturale, e dei 20 anni della Convenzione UNESCO per la Salvaguardia del Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale, l’Associazione Italiana Giovani per l’UNESCO presenta WHY | World Heritage Youth.

WHY sarà un momento di confronto e di costruzione di proposte condivise per il futuro delle due “Convenzioni-sorelle” e per la loro applicazione da parte dei giovani coinvolti a vario titolo nel settore del patrimonio culturale e naturale. Altri temi trasversali che interesseranno l’evento saranno l’attivismo giovanile, l’ecoturismo e la sostenibilità ambientale.

Dove: Palazzo Guadagni Strozzi Sacrati – Firenze 

Obiettivo: L’evento vuole mettere al centro del dibattito esperienze e competenze di giovani professionisti e di realtà giovanili attive sul tema del Patrimonio Mondiale e Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale, al fine di:

  • definire proposte innovative per una “Carta dei Giovani” da presentare ai vertici istituzionali nazionali e internazionali. La Carta sarà sottoscritta, oltre che da AIGU in qualità di promotore, da tutti i partecipanti all’iniziativa;
  • creare una rete che metta a sistema le esperienze di giovani e di organizzazioni giovanili attive sul Patrimonio Mondiale (WH) e sul Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale (ICH) e che sia operativa e propositiva attraverso incontri periodici.

  In questo contesto attraverso tre workshop verranno trattate prevalentemente tre tematiche:

  1. Nuove professioni e professionisti  per il Patrimonio Mondiale e il Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale 
  2. Il ruolo dei giovani per il Patrimonio naturale
  3. Verso Liste più eque e rappresentative di siti e elementi in tutto il mondo

A chi si rivolge: a realtà giovanili, associazioni, giovani professionisti e in generale a giovani coinvolti a vario titolo nella gestione, valorizzazione e conservazione dei siti Patrimonio Mondiale e degli elementi del Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale.
L’evento sarà interamente in lingua inglese.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and the 20th Anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO presents WHY | World Heritage Youth. 

WHY will represent an opportunity for discussion and the construction of shared proposals for the future of the two “Sister-Conventions,” which are increasingly dialoguing instruments, and for their application by young people involved in various capacities in the field of cultural and natural heritage. Other cross-cutting themes that will be addressed by the event will be youth activism, ecotourism and environmental sustainability.

Where: Palazzo Guadagni Strozzi Sacrati – Florence

Outcomes: The event focuses on thematics connected to World Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage, through debating on young professionals and youth organisations experiences and skills in order to achieve the followings: 

  • Defining an innovative proposal for a “Youth Charter” to present for the World Heritage Convention 50th Anniversary, “The Next 50”, and the Intangible Cultural Heritage 20th Anniversary; The Charter will be endorsed by AIGU as the promoter and all participants of the initiative.
  • Create a systematic network of youth individuals and youth organisations dedicated to World Heritage (WH) and Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), aiming to be proactive and influential through regular meetings.

The event will be focusing on the following topics:

  1. New professions and professionals for World Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage 
  2. The role of Youth for Natural Heritage
  3. World Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists which equally represent sites and elements worldwide.

Target audience: youth organisations of any kind, young professionals and any young person involved in World Heritage sites and Intangible Cultural elements management, enhancement and preservation.
The event will be held entirely in English.
