The Gargano, as happens every year, has been struck by devastating fires that have burned woods, countryside and protected natural areas, leaving deep wounds behind. To respond to this emergency and to turn anger into hope, the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO is organising the event “Ricostruire – Quando il Gargano brucia” (Rebuilding – When the Gargano Burns), scheduled for Saturday 23 August 2025 at 6:30 pm at the Oasi Laguna del Re (Viale dei Pini, Manfredonia – FG).
The evening will begin with a sunset walk accompanied by nature and hiking guides, to rediscover the beauty of the Oasis and see at first hand the scars left by the flames. Music will then take centre stage with performances by Marta Dell’Anno, Giustina Ruggiero, Michele Dell’Anno, the group Postumi and the group Bacco Hopper accompanied by Francesca Ruberto. The artists, with generosity and sensitivity, will offer their contribution to give voice to the rebirth of the territory.
As usual, admission to the Oasis costs 5 euros. On this special occasion, however, visitors will not only be able to walk at sunset with the nature guides along the paths of the protected area, but will also have the opportunity to attend the musical performances of the artists who have chosen to donate their art to support the rebirth of the territory. The special opening of the Oasis thus becomes a unique experience combining nature and culture. In addition to the admission ticket, those who wish may contribute with a free donation to make good the estimated damage of 6,200 euros and support the reconstruction work and the restoration of the flora.
“Ricostruire” is made possible by a union of forces and shared values. Alongside AIGU and the Oasi Laguna del Re, numerous local partners have joined the initiative: Centro Studi Naturalistici, WWF Foggia, Associazione Fare Natura, Generact (Foggia), Provo.Cult (San Giovanni Rotondo), Un Monte di Idee (Monte SantìAngelo), Libera (Manfredonia), Scuola di Formazione (Manfredonia), DoveandiamosulGargano.it (Vieste), Associazione Daunia ASP (Manfredonia), le Bigotte (Foggia), with the patronage of the municipality of Manfredonia. For all of them, the initiative represents a concrete opportunity for community, solidarity and shared commitment to the future of the Gargano.
