Birra Messina and AIGU discover the Sicilian art of good living

Sicily has been named an icon of the “good living” lifestyle, and the reasons are many: history, art, culture, sea, nature… and a very high quality of life. A study carried out by Birra Messina with AIGU, entitled “I segreti dello stile di vita siciliano” (The secrets of the Sicilian lifestyle), explores the aspects that make the Sicilian way of life an icon of good living for Millennials, Sicilian and otherwise.
What emerges is a ranking in which the warmth, generosity and hospitality of Sicilians, together with the local cuisine, unanimously take the podium, and which inspired Birra Messina and the new stories of the “La Sicilia si Sente” platform.  This work, carried out by the young Sicilians belonging to AIGU (the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO), was born from the idea of discovering which experiences convey the “taste” and “scent” of Sicily. Ten experiences to try in each of the 9 beautiful Sicilian provinces.

A true immersion in Sicily and its traditions, all through the stories of those who were born there or chose to live there, turning ancient crafts and traditions into entrepreneurial ventures and activities that celebrate the typically Sicilian way of life and the island’s natural and cultural treasures, especially the lesser-known ones.

The study highlights in particular the warmth and hospitality of Sicilians, the local cuisine with its many traditional recipes, and the wealth of museums and sites of the highest historical and artistic value. These are followed by traditional festivals, the beauty of the Sicilian sea and the small villages where the combination of leisure and work reaches its finest expression.

The study examined a sample of 255 cases, with a target made up of 87% young people between 18 and 35 years of age and 13% over-35s.
