Born in Legnago (Verona) in 1991, Leonardo Bertassello is a researcher and environmental engineer who focuses on the study of climate resilience and water resource sustainability. He earned his Bachelor’s (2013) and Master’s (2016) degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Padova. His academic journey then continued in the United States, where he obtained a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2019. As a researcher, he has developed theoretical frameworks for the eco-hydrological modeling of wetlands and river networks, analyzing the socio-hydrological resilience of communities and water stress in complex contexts related to migration. He is currently a Project Officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). His research focuses on climate risk assessment at the European and global levels, with a particular emphasis on Nature-based Solutions and “blue and green” adaptation strategies for European cities.
