The Italian Youth Association for UNESCO is the world’s largest youth organization recognized among UNESCO Associations and Clubs. Since 2015, it has operated across the national territory to promote UNESCO values and programs in education, science, culture, and communication, executing projects and events within local communities as well as of national and international relevance, encouraging active participation from young people and civil society.
AIGU promotes and organizes regional, national, and international projects proposed and developed by individual regional groups in their respective territories, in coordination with the Board of Directors, aligned with the Association’s strategic programs and objectives related to Education, Heritage, and Science.
INVOLVING YOUTH IN UNESCO VALUES
For Education, AIGU promotes the EDU and Academy projects, targeted respectively at high schools and universities, through labs and workshops featuring industry professionals, in collaboration with public and private bodies, entities, and foundations.
Heritage&Youth promotes the knowledge, protection, and transmission of cultural heritage, as well as debate on the role of youth working in the heritage sector, through conferences, workshops, and exhibitions.
GEA – Youth and Environment (Giovani e Ambiente) promotes initiatives in the field of Science to foster greater awareness regarding sustainability issues and active youth involvement in environmental protection.
The Italian Youth Forum is Italy’s largest youth cultural event, dedicated to all members of the Association and open to the public. It hosts meetings and debates on culture, heritage, art, and science; the IYF is also the moment when AIGU presents both its achieved milestones and future goals.
