On 19 December 2024, the conference “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges for Creativity and Culture” was held in the Great Hall of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, organised by the members of the Sardinia Region, composed of Marialisa Panu (regional coordinator), Jacqueline Tilocca, Lara Tusa, Manuel Lilliu and Enrico Schirru, supported by Federico Porcedda, Gianfranco Sanna and Alessandra Feola. The event, supported by the University of Cagliari and other local organisations, explored the potential and challenges of Artificial Intelligence in fields such as culture, education and work.
Numerous experts, including Prof. Daniele Cocco, Prof. Roberto Ricciu and Prof. Giulio Lughi, discussed the role of AI in art, training and youth employment, with a focus on the “UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI” and the Guidance for Generative Artificial Intelligence in education and research.
A special contribution came from Andrea Concas, founder of ACAI.news, who shared his experience as a cultural entrepreneur of the future. The day ended with a talk by photographer Marco Secchi, who presented some images from the “Patrimonio Sardegna” exhibition reproduced using AI.
The conference was inspired by the UNESCO World Futures Day and offered a space for reflection on the opportunities and challenges of AI in the future of culture and creativity.
