Youth participation in intangible cultural heritage: this was the subject of AIGU’s talk at the Tocatì Festival, held today, 17 September, in Verona, in the Cortile Mercato Vecchio.
AIGU was a guest at the Tocatì Festival – the International Festival of Street Games – to talk about the Association and the latest Italian Youth Forum, held in Cagliari in April 2022, as a good practice in the enhancement of intangible cultural heritage.
The talk was an overview of all the activities carried out during the Forum and the results achieved, focusing in particular on the four themes addressed in the workshops in Cagliari: craftsmanship, food sustainability, the role of the younger generations, and the link between the UNESCO Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage and the World Heritage Convention.
“Solidarity, belonging, governance, communication, skills development, awareness-raising and social education. These are the values through which AIGU interprets itself. The new generations interpret and develop cultural content, being active protagonists of the future” – these were the words of Elena Sinibaldi, National Focal Point for the UNESCO Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture (MiC).
The meeting was also moderated by Valentina Zingari, UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Facilitator, together with the speakers Gianluca Buoncore (AIGU, Executive Board), Federico Porcedda (Regional Representative, AIGU Sardinia) and Claudia Agalliu (AIGU Lombardy), with a focus on the Cagliari Forum and the themes of the working tables.
