Gianluca Buoncore

Architect and PhD holder (b. 1990), Calabrian by birth and Florentine by adoption, his academic trajectory is deeply rooted in Florence. Since 2011, he has contributed to teaching architectural design studios within the Department of Architecture at the University of Florence, where he also earned his PhD in “Architecture, Design, Knowledge, and Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage.”

An Adjunct Professor at the University of Florence, the Catholic University University “Our Lady of Good Counsel” in Tirana, and various international institutions, he serves on the editorial board of an international peer-reviewed journal published by the University of Bologna. He actively participates in research groups, conferences, and symposia across Italy and abroad.
Central to his scholarly endeavors and research interests are the safeguarding of tangible and intangible heritage, the broad dissemination of knowledge, and a strong commitment to architectural communication.

Defined by a rational mindset and a strong design aptitude, he is dedicated to cultural advancement through the curation of workshops, exhibitions, conferences, and guided tours. A drive for networking and public service led him to the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO (AIGU), where he served as President from 2023 to 2026. During his tenure, he worked to reinforce the association’s national identity, execute memorandums of understanding with key sector stakeholders, and consolidate institutional relations with the UNESCO network both nationally and internationally.
