The historic Palazzo della Marra, a Baroque landmark of the city of Barletta, opens its doors to the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO. The appointment is for Sunday 13 June from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The event is free and will be divided into two parts:
- From 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, our friends from “The Walkers – Barletta” will guide visitors through the new and highly prized display of the Giuseppe De Nittis Picture Gallery, dedicated to the Barletta-born artist who lived in the nineteenth century and achieved artistic success in France, in contact with eminent figures such as Degas, Manet, Morisot and Caillebotte;
- From 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, in the palace gardens, a moment of dialogue and sharing, with a welcome address by the councillor for youth policies Oronzo Cilli, will take us into the heart of the association’s activities. The opening will feature Professor Daniele Manni, computer science teacher at the Galilei Costa Technical Economic Institute in Lecce and the first Italian to win the “Global Teacher Award” for creating innovative start-ups with his students. This will be followed by a presentation by Josè Stancarone, author of the book “Dispari”, a work aimed at exploring diversity in all its meanings. Also present will be Professor Anna Rosa Cianci, Save the Children Marche coordinator, on behalf of Save BAT, promoters of the recent campaign “Riscriviamo il futuro”, for a reflection on respect for and appreciation of diversity, non-discrimination, saying no to bullying and combating educational poverty.
“We chose Barletta as the venue for relaunching the in-person events of the AIGU Puglia Association because it is a city of great cultural interest in the BAT province, as well as the birthplace of prominent figures in the artistic, political and sporting worlds. Inclusion has always been synonymous with culture, and these activities are the fruit of the commitment of dozens of young people who strive every day to counter the discrimination that our society unfortunately witnesses all too often,” declare the regional representatives.
The statutory aim of the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO is to bring UNESCO’s themes, programmes and values to communities across the country. Among its various projects is Edu, the initiative that every year since 2016 has visited hundreds of Italian schools. The Barletta stop, which concludes this strand, aims to present the association through its various activities and to relaunch the “adotta un progetto” fundraising campaign, designed to support Edu Puglia, dedicated to goals 4, 5 and 13 (quality education, gender equality and climate action) of the UN 2030 Agenda.
